Olimpia Velasco

Without neglecting personal experience, Olimpia Velasco’s work vindicates the return to nature as a method of escape from the world that surrounds us, thus returning to the origins of the human being and creating a place to escape and stay. From an analytical point of view, her work investigates how humanity finds privileged points from which to observe nature and thus be able to protect it. Velasco conceives the natural environment as an escape from reality, where he can identify and understand the deepest and most indescribable human emotions.

Olimpia Velasco participated in individual and collective, national and international exhibitions. Among the most recent are "Seed, flame, penumbra" in Madrid (2022); "Fire/hollow/shadow/air", at the Instituto Cervantes in Krakow (2022); "Geodesy" at the National Geographic Institute of Madrid (2022), "Some things that fly around the world" in Madrid (2021), "The Magic Mountain" at the Bai & Yun Art Museum, China (2019), "On rau the reality?” at the Es Baluard Museum (2019) among others.

Velasco won national and international awards, highlighting the prize for the mural intervention at the Embassy of Spain in Belgium 2020 (Brussels City Hall), the help from the Vegap 2020 assistance fund, among others.
