Marta Font

Marta Font was born in Valledemossa, Mallorca in 1977.

Her work is close to oriental aesthetics and thought around the concept of emptiness, present in all types of art. The blank spaces, the dramatic pauses, the moments in silence … A pause before an emotion that has to be expressed.

The technique of her work could be defined as a “performative pointillism”. She injects a jet of Chinese ink at each point, piercing and piercing the sheet of Japanese paper. It is done mechanically, at a leisurely pace. In this way a landscape develops, marking a silence between each point, in the gesture of raising the hand from the paper. Thus a musical score of silence and commotion is created. This action of prodding, performed repeatedly, also leads to a state of mind of trance, stillness and emptiness.

Marta Font has training in sculpture and engraving and has developed numerous artistic-educational projects linked to the social sector.
