The work of Julio Galeote (Madrid, 1977) explores the transformation of space based on the figures shown in it, through the use of studio photography and found objects. Through the documentation of historical images published in the local press, the artist leads us to reflect on an urban environment that builds realities based on the representation of fictions, such as living in the leisure city. The objects that Galeote uses, despite being easily recognizable, produce new perceptive planes of the everyday by placing them outside their usual context.

Graduated in Industrial Engineering and graduated from the Royal College of Art in London (MA Fine Art Photography), Julio Galeote studied photography at EFTI Madrid. The artist exhibited his work in institutions such as Christie’s Gallery in London, Tabacalera, Círculo de Bellas Artes, MACUF or the Portuguese Museum of Photography, and in numerous commercial galleries in both individual and group exhibitions. Galeote participated in international fairs such as ARCO, MadridFoto, ForoSur, Estampa or London Art Fair, and was part of the Photoespaña festival, in several editions. The photographer received scholarships such as the one from the Academy of Spain in Rome (2010-2011) and was selected in competitions such as Circuitos de Artes Plásticas de la Comunidad de Madrid, INJUVE, Purificación García Photography Contest and FreshFaced + WildEyed, among others. Julio Galeote worked in both public and private collections.
